Networked Energy Services Receives METAS Data Security Certification

NES, along with its partner VIVAVIS Schweiz AG in the Switzerland, has successfully certified its OSGP PLC Solution for the Swiss Market

San Jose, CA, February 14, 2022: Networked Energy Services Corporation (NES), a global smart grid solution provider with the industry’s leading Energy Applications Platform (EAPTM), is proud to announce that together with our partner, VIVAVIS Schweiz AG, we have completed the process in Switzerland of achieving the METAS Data Security Certification for the NES AMI Platform based on OSGP (Open Smart Grid Protocol).

METAS-Cert is the body designated by Switzerland and recognized by the EU for the conformity assessment of measuring instruments. Acting on behalf of the manufacturers of measuring instruments, METAS-Cert carries out the conformity assessments required for placing products on the market. However, for the Data Security Certification, the manufacturers use outside testing laboratories, certified according to Common Criteria (ISO/IEC 15408), to conduct a security review and penetration testing following a standardized test methodology of the products.

The independent testing and certification laboratory’s final test report was used by METAS-Cert as foundation for the formal certification. METAS-Cert completed the review of the Evaluation Test Report for smart meters, data concentrator and headend software associated with the NES System.

NES and VIVAVIS have more than 10 different existing DSO customers in Switzerland, and this certification will ensure that existing and future customers receive a smart meter solution that is certified to be compliant with the data security requirements as defined in local law in Switzerland.

“METAS data security certification is an important and significant achievement," said André Kreuzer, Managing Director at VIVAVIS Schweiz AG. “Switzerland recognizes the importance of data security, and this certification demonstrates to customers that our joint smart metering solution with NES delivers a secure solution that meets all of the security requirements. We look forward to continue working with NES in the Swiss market.”

“Switzerland is an important market for NES,” said David Thomson, CEO of NES. "METAS data security certification ensures that NES and VIVAVIS can continue to deliver our proven and secure smart metering solution to DSOs in Switzerland.”
